Vigyan Foundation is basically a charitable, issue based non-government organization working in a right based approach, registered in 1988, under the Society Registration Act -1860.

It works with the most marginalized sections of the society in urban as well as rural areas. The organization works in a rights-based approach and believes in empowering community through their collectivization and rigorous capacity building. The organization works with children, adolescents, youth, women, migrant workers and homeless community on themes like education, gender, livelihood, social security, WASH, employability and decent living conditions. People at Vigyan strongly believe and promote networks and alliances for advocacy of the rights of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities. Our organization has been proactive in facilitating community-based organizations and strengthening them to collectively demand for their basic rights.

We have worked extensively as an urban resource centre and have developed GIS maps of urban poor settlements in Lucknow and Kanpur and have manually mapped labour posts and homeless in several cities of Uttar Pradesh. The organization has also generated a number of studies related to occupational groups, plight of urban poor and homeless community.

Core areas of intervention include child rights, rights of migrant workers/unorganized sector workers, shelter rights, rights of adolescents and youth.
